Wireless @ VT
Welcome to the home of Wireless @ Virginia Tech, an exciting university-wide focus on wireless technology. Wireless @ VT is bringing together researchers, facilities, equipment, and expertise from across Virginia Tech to focus on multi-disciplinary solutions to "Invent the Future" of wireless.
This summer we are hosting ten undergraduate students to participate in research activities in the field of Cognitive Communications during a 9-week summer session through the NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program. REU participants will be assigned research projects related to OSSIE, GNU radio, signal classification, and CubeSat ground stations. The research will be performed under the day-to-day supervision of faculty mentors. Dr. Tonya Smith-Jackson is our REU site director. Other mentors include Dr. Carl Dietrich, Co-PI, Dr. William Tranter, Co-PI, Dr. Scott Midkiff, Co-PI, Dr. Tamal Bose, Dr. Haris Volos, Dr. Jeff Reed, Mr. Dan DePoy, and Mr. Munawwar Sohul. This integrated educational and research experience will be enhanced by weekly formal research group meetings, lectures, and seminars. The program culminates in a mini research symposium where the students will present the results of their research.
